thanks to a good friend, eric, i was asked to capture some memories for unified voices (a volunteer choir affiliated with johns hopkins university) and their upcoming event with recording artist kathy taylor. i hadn’t seen a choir in rehearsal since 6th grade when i auditioned for the middle school choir. i can still hear my teacher, ms. charles, telling me “stick with the trumpet.” and so i did. i left my vocal dreams behind and thrived on the brass. she was right, i eventually become 1st chair.
the shoot with unified voices reminded me of the importance to be in unison. to operate with one vision, one voice. even when one voice is orchestrated to stand out from the rest, unison is still necessary. the background is equally essential. it’s really applicable to most situations, especially if others are involved. we seek it in relationships, even at work we partner with others to reach a goal – hopefully, in unison. i learn so much from my photoshoots and this shoot had perfect timing. it reminded me to always keep the metronome steady. it reminded me to be in unison. i like rhythm and a nice steady groove. i hope you’re in rhythm…and in unison. happy clicks!
