“you can do what you wanna do in livin’ color. you can walk on the moon, float like a balloon. you see it’s never too late and it’s never too soon.”
i love headshots. not your typical posing in front of a black or dull grey background, power suit and a forced smile kinda headshot. i can certainly create that memory but how about a natural, in your element, let’s go outside, type of headshot! i was excited when this opportunity recently presented itself. i knew chauncey wanted updated headshots. since our last shoot, he’d received a master’s degree, gotten a new job, traveled the world and much more in between. what i didn’t know was that he’d want them sooner than later. the reason – an upcoming article for black enterprise’s BE modern man.
BE modern man honors the “essence, image and work of today’s modern man” and fittingly, chauncey was selected to be featured in the BE modern man 100. it’s great to see a platform that highlights the profiles and progress of professional black men. for chauncey’s pictures, he wanted something updated, classic, yet casual. perfect…let’s go outside! we had excellent lighting, a great wardrobe and a stylist/keep us out of traffic/encouraging friend veronica cheering us on!
i’ve known chancey for years (be sure to ask me how we first met; it involves white shoes in november). i’m happy to call him friend, more honored that he’s family. every time i see him, he’s wearing his best accessory – that smile. he’s grounded, intelligent and lives his life in living color. i’m grateful for his radiance. it’s said, “a picture’s worth a thousand words.” if so, i’ll let these memories speak for themselves. happy clicks!
